Hydrogen is one of the most significant topics in both the energy sector and industry. Its role in decarbonisation, technological development and practical applications will be discussed by experts from around the world at the second edition of the international conference Hydrogen: Power, Production, and Materials 2026 (H2PPM), taking place on 1–3 December 2026 at TechTower in Pilsen. Registration is open until 31 August 2026.
This year’s edition builds on a successful debut while also reflecting an organisational change that took place earlier this spring. Since April 2026, VZÚ Plzeň has been part of the Research Centre Řež (CVŘ), and the conference is now held under its auspices. The experienced organising team and the established concept of the event remain unchanged. The aim is to preserve the open, collaborative atmosphere that was one of the key strengths of the first edition, while further developing it within a broader research framework.
The three-day programme will offer a combination of scientific insight and practical experience. It will include expert lectures and poster sessions focusing on current research, development, and industrial applications of hydrogen technologies. A significant part of the programme will also address material challenges associated with hydrogen use, particularly corrosion, material degradation, storage, and transport. Discussion sessions will explore broader perspectives – from technological readiness and legislation to the economic and societal aspects of developing the hydrogen economy. The conference will also provide ample opportunities for networking and fostering collaboration between research organisations, industry and the public sector.
The conference will be held in English and will host a number of distinguished speakers from both academia and industry. Confirmed speakers include Petr Mervart, Government Envoy for Hydrogen Technologies at the Ministry of Industry and Trade; Aleš Doucek from the Czech Hydrogen Technology Platform (HYTEP); Frederic Wewetzer from the German cluster HZwo e. V.; Tomáš Prošek from the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague; and Alexandr Lužný from GasNet. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn about the outcomes of international projects such as Hydro‑NiCE and HOOPLA, focused on materials research.
H2PPM 2026 offers a unique opportunity to meet experts shaping the future of hydrogen technologies, exchange knowledge, and establish new partnerships.
