Testing materials for the extreme conditions of thermonuclear fusion energy

Testing materials designed to withstand conditions similar to those inside stars is one of the greatest challenges facing modern science. At the HELCZA facility in Pilsen, we are testing whether components for fusion reactors can withstand extreme thermal loads, thereby bringing the practical application of nuclear fusion one step closer.

We contributed to the creation of a new edition of the "golden standard" for nuclear data

Research Center Řež contributed to the development of a new version of one of the world’s most important nuclear data libraries. In May 2026, the ENDF/B-VIII.1 update was published; it has long been regarded as the “golden standard” for computational simulations in nuclear engineering and physics.

Research Centre Řež and Framatome have confirmed a strategic partnership focused on the safe and sustainable operation of the LVR‑15 and LR‑0 research reactors. The cooperation builds on more than ten years of joint research in nuclear safety and fuel development.
